About
I am a computational biology researcher interested in applying genomics, machine learning, and bioinformatics to understand human disease. I was drawn to bioinformatics because it combines analytical problem-solving with biology, allowing computational methods to answer questions with real clinical impact. Although I had never programmed before university, I became fascinated by the role of computation in biology, taught myself to code, and ultimately pursued a minor in Computer Science alongside my specialist in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
My research has centered on building computational tools and reproducible analysis pipelines for large-scale genomic datasets. Through projects spanning gene regulatory networks, evolutionary genomics, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, I have developed a strong foundation in statistical genomics and biological data analysis. I am currently a Computational Biology Researcher at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR), where I use single-cell transcriptomics to investigate the developmental origins of medulloblastoma, a pediatric brain cancer.
More broadly, I am motivated by the potential of machine learning to transform biology and medicine. I am particularly interested in developing computational methods that integrate genomics and AI to improve our understanding of cancer and enable more precise diagnosis and treatment. I plan to pursue graduate studies in computational biology, with the long-term goal of translating advances in data science into meaningful improvements in human health.
